The Space to Go Deep

500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India

Students in practice during the 500 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh

The lasting impact of a teacher is the unshakeable positive belief they plant in a student’s heart.

A 500-hour yoga teacher training is the complete, master-level path to becoming a yoga teacher — combining the foundational 200-hour and the advanced 300-hour trainings in one immersive stay. You arrive as a dedicated practitioner (no prior certification needed) and leave eligible to register as an RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance USA — the highest standard teaching credential.

Your 58-day journey with us unfolds in three movements. First, the 200-hour foundation stage builds your base in practice and the essentials of teaching. Then comes a rest and integration week — time to let the learning settle, deepen your self-practice and explore Rishikesh. Finally, the 300-hour advanced stage takes you into subtler territory: advanced asana and pranayama, the bandhas, deeper philosophy and refined teaching methodology.

As with everything we teach at Pure Soul, the focus stays on the why behind every posture, breath and philosophy — so you graduate teaching from understanding, not imitation. On completing both stages and their assessments, you receive two certificates — your 200-hour and 300-hour — which together qualify you to register as an RYT 500 and teach anywhere in the world. Your final morning is the certificate ceremony, a celebration you will remember.

Course Syllabus

The Journey — Your 500 Hours in Two Stages

Your training follows the official Yoga Alliance structure of both credentials we hold — the RYS 200 and RYS 300 — delivered as two stages with a rest and integration week between them. Here is how your 58 days unfold:

Stage 1 — The 200-Hour Foundation (about 3 weeks)

  • Techniques, Training & Practice (75 hours): asana across Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative styles, pranayama, meditation, mantra and cleansing practices.
  • Anatomy & Physiology (30 hours): how the body works in yoga — bones, muscles, joints, breath and the nervous system.
  • Yoga Humanities (30 hours): the history and philosophy of yoga, key texts, ethics and the yogic lifestyle.
  • Professional Essentials (50 hours): teaching methodology, sequencing, cueing and your first supervised practice teaching.
  • Stage 1 assessment and your 200-hour certificate.

Rest & Integration Week

  • A deliberate pause between the stages — rest, journal, deepen your self-practice, and let three weeks of learning settle.
  • Explore Rishikesh at your own pace: the temples, the mountains and the evening Ganga aarti.

Stage 2 — The 300-Hour Advanced Training (about 4 weeks)

  • Advanced Techniques, Training & Practice: inversions, arm balances and deep backbends; advanced pranayama (Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, Anulom Vilom, Sheetali, Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana); the Mula, Uddiyana and Jalandhara bandhas.
  • Advanced Teaching Methodology: voice modulation, demonstration, and designing classes for every level.
  • Deeper Anatomy & Physiology applied to advanced practice and injury-safe teaching.
  • Yoga Philosophy, Ethics & Lifestyle: Karma, Bhakti and Jnana yoga; ethics for teachers; philosophy in modern life.
  • Practicum: supervised practice teaching with personal feedback, mentoring workshops, yoga nidra and chakra meditation.
  • Stage 2 assessment and your 300-hour certificate.

Certification and Assessment

  • Each stage concludes with written exercises, a practical asana test and a supervised teaching demonstration.
  • You graduate with two certificates — 200-hour and 300-hour — which together make you eligible to register as an RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance USA.

Course Styles

Yoga Styles You'll Learn In the 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Across both stages you study the full spectrum of classical and modern styles — first as a practitioner, then as a teacher able to guide each one.

Hatha Yoga

One of the oldest and most widely practised forms of yoga. 'Ha' means sun and 'tha' means moon — the balance of opposing energies within the body. Hatha builds physical strength, spiritual growth and mental clarity, and forms the backbone of your teaching foundation.

Vinyasa Yoga

A dynamic style combining movement with breath, tracing back to the teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. You will learn to create intelligent, creative sequences with safe transitions — classes with a theme and an emotional arc.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

An energetic, disciplined style following a structured sequence of poses. It builds physical and mental strength — and teaches you how breath, movement and focus work together so you can guide students step by step.

Yin Yoga

A slow, gentle practice where poses are held for several minutes, working into the deeper connective tissues and joints. Yin teaches you — and your future students — stillness, sensation and mindfulness.

Restorative Yoga

Fully supported postures using props that allow the body to truly rest. You will learn to create deeply relaxing classes for all levels — an essential skill for the modern teacher.

Kundalini Yoga

A powerful practice combining movement, breath, meditation and mantra to awaken the body's inner energy, build awareness and cultivate inner strength.

The story of us

What Makes Our 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Unique?

Choosing the 500-hour path means committing to the deepest journey we offer. Here's why students choose to take it with us:

  • One immersion, two credentials: our Yoga Alliance-registered 200-hour and 300-hour programs (RYS 200 & RYS 300) in a single stay — graduate eligible to register as an RYT 500 and teach worldwide.
  • A journey with breathing room: the rest and integration week between stages lets your learning settle — something an ordinary back-to-back program never gives you.
  • Small batches of maximum 20 students: eight weeks is long enough for our teachers to truly know your practice — and mentor you personally.
  • Serving since 2019, 5,000+ students guided — from yoga enthusiasts into confident, working teachers.
  • Real teaching from the start: interactive sessions, posture adjustment, alignment training, workshops and supervised practice teaching in both stages.
  • Rishikesh itself: excursions to sacred sites, temple visits and Himalayan treks — eight weeks of living yoga in the place it comes from.

FAQs

FAQs - 500 Hour Yoga TTC Rishikesh India

How much does the 500 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh cost?

The course fee is $2,400 (shared room) or $2,700 (private room) for international students, and ₹1,10,000 (shared) or ₹1,32,000 (private) for Indian students — including 58 days of accommodation, all meals, course materials and both certificates. You reserve your seat with a 20% deposit.

Should I take the 500-hour course, or do the 200 and 300 hour separately?

Both paths lead to RYT 500. The 500-hour is best if you can dedicate eight weeks in one stay — it costs less than the two courses taken separately, keeps your momentum, and includes a rest week between stages. Doing them separately suits those who want to teach for a while between trainings. If you're unsure, write to us and we'll help you decide honestly.

Do I need any certification or experience to join?

No — the 500-hour begins with the complete 200-hour foundation, so no prior certification is needed. Some familiarity with yoga postures helps, but dedication matters more than experience.

How long is the course and how is it structured?

58 days (about 8 weeks): roughly three weeks for the 200-hour foundation stage, a rest and integration week, then four weeks for the 300-hour advanced stage. The final morning is the certificate ceremony, with checkout after breakfast.
