Yoga Teacher Training in India — Rishikesh, Goa & Kerala
Yoga was born in India — and there is still nothing quite like training where the tradition is a living, daily reality rather than an import. At Pure Soul Yoga School, a Yoga Alliance-registered school (RYS 200, RYS 300, RCYS, RPYS), you can take the same authentic teacher training at three very different Indian homes: the spiritual intensity of Rishikesh, the beach calm of Goa, or the Ayurvedic heartland of Kerala.
Same syllabus, same standards, same certification — what changes is the world outside the shala. More than 5,000 students from 50+ nationalities have trained with us since 2019; this page helps you choose where your journey begins.

Choose Your Indian Destination
Rishikesh — the Yoga Capital
The spiritual home of yoga — Himalayan foothills, the Ganga, evening Aarti and the deepest course selection: this is where our school lives, with every specialty training and retreat on one campus.
Arambol's beaches, sunrise flows to the sound of waves and a softer, sun-warmed rhythm — the same syllabus and standards as Rishikesh, in India's most relaxed setting.
The tradition at full strength — philosophy taught where it was written, mantra where it is still sung, and teachers for whom yoga is a lineage, not a workout format.
Internationally recognised certification — as a Yoga Alliance-registered school, our 200-hour graduates register as RYT 200, our 300-hour graduates upgrade to RYT 500, and our kids and prenatal graduates earn RCYT and RPYT pathways.
Full immersion, honest value — residential training with room, three sattvic meals daily, materials and certification included. Comparable trainings in Europe or the US routinely cost two to three times more, without the immersion.
A community for life — you live your training alongside classmates from dozens of countries, and the friendships tend to outlast the certificate.
Prefer to train abroad? The same school runs teacher trainings in Bali and Nepal — same standards, different skies.
Frequently Asked Questions — Yoga Teacher Training in India
How much does yoga teacher training cost in India?
At Pure Soul, fully residential teacher trainings range from $599 (85-hour prenatal) to around $2,400 (the complete 500-hour journey). The flagship 200-hour course costs $1,200-$1,350 in Rishikesh, from $1,350 in Kerala and from $1,460 in Goa — always including accommodation, three sattvic meals daily, materials and certification. Bookings are confirmed with a 20% deposit.
Which is the best place in India for yoga teacher training?
It genuinely depends on you. Rishikesh is the yoga capital — the deepest spiritual atmosphere and our fullest course selection, including kids, prenatal and every specialty. Goa suits those who want beach energy and a relaxed pace. Kerala pairs your training with Ayurveda's historic heartland. The syllabus, teachers' standards and certification are the same at all three — choose the setting that speaks to you.
Is a yoga teacher training from India recognised internationally?
Ours is — Pure Soul is a Yoga Alliance-registered school (RYS 200 and RYS 300, plus RCYS and RPYS for children's and prenatal yoga). After the 200-hour course you can register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance, and after the 300-hour upgrade to RYT 500 — recognised by studios worldwide. Always verify any school's registration in the public directory at yogaalliance.org.
Can complete beginners do a yoga teacher training in India?
Yes. The 200-hour course is designed to take dedicated beginners to certified teachers, and our 12-day 100-hour course in Rishikesh (from $730) is a gentler first step that later counts toward the 200-hour pathway. No prior certification is needed — just sincerity and basic health.
Do you offer kids yoga teacher training in India?
Yes — our 95-hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh runs over 12 days, and because Pure Soul is a Registered Children's Yoga School (RCYS), graduates who hold an RYT registration can earn the RCYT designation with Yoga Alliance. We also offer the 85-hour Prenatal & Postnatal YTT (RPYS) for the RPYT pathway.
Is there a 100-hour yoga teacher training in India?
Yes — our 100-hour course in Rishikesh runs over 12 days (from $730, private room) and is the perfect first immersion. It's honest to say a 100-hour certificate alone doesn't qualify you to register with Yoga Alliance — but ours is a real pathway: your hours count toward completing the 200-hour certification later.
Do I need a visa for yoga teacher training in India?
Most students attend on India's e-Tourist Visa, which covers courses up to its permitted stay — and we provide a visa invitation letter on request. Check your country's requirements, and we'll happily help with supporting documents and travel guidance for whichever campus you choose.
Is India safe for solo female travellers joining a YTT?
Our campuses are residential and self-contained — students live, eat and practice on-site with trusted staff, 24/7 security and CCTV. Many of our students are solo women, and the shared-journey community of a teacher training is one of the safest, warmest ways to experience India. Airport pickup can be arranged for every location.
When do courses start?
Monthly, all year round, at all three Indian locations — 200-hour batches run from the 1st to the 23rd of each month, and 300-hour batches from the 1st to the 27th. Rishikesh specialty courses have their own schedules listed on each course page.
How do I choose and book?
