200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India

Are you ready to take your love for yoga into the practice of teaching by joining our Pure Soul 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh?
A 200-hour yoga teacher training (YTT) is the internationally recognised foundation course for becoming a yoga teacher. It combines daily practice, anatomy, philosophy and teaching methodology — and on completing it at a Yoga Alliance-registered school like ours, you become eligible to register as an RYT-200 and teach worldwide.
At Pure Soul, your training unfolds on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. What makes our approach different is simple: we teach you the why behind every posture, breath and philosophy — so your practice and teaching are built on real understanding, not imitation. In a small group of maximum 20 students, you are never just a face in the class.
The course follows a multi-style approach — Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin and Kundalini — alongside pranayama, meditation, traditional philosophy and hands-on teaching practice. Your journey ends with a structured assessment: written exercises, a practical asana test and a supervised teaching demonstration. Our teachers prepare you for each step, and when you pass, you receive your certificate and become eligible to register as an RYT-200 with Yoga Alliance USA.
What You'll Learn — Syllabus of the 200 Hour Course
Our syllabus follows the official Yoga Alliance RYS 200 structure of four Educational Categories, so every hour of your training is accounted for — 75 hours of Techniques, Training & Practice, 30 hours of Anatomy & Physiology, 30 hours of Yoga Humanities, and 50 hours of Professional Essentials, with the remaining hours devoted to our school's own emphasis, including an Ayurveda workshop and sound healing.
Techniques, Training & Practice — 75 Hours
- Asana practice across Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini and Restorative styles, with alignment and the safe use of props (straps, blocks, bolsters).
- Pranayama to build lung capacity, focus and energy flow — including Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana and Kapalabhati.
- Meditation, mantra chanting and mudras for relaxation and emotional balance.
- Yoga Nidra and shatkarma cleansing practices, and why detoxification supports clarity of mind.
Anatomy & Physiology — 30 Hours
- How bones, muscles and joints work in yoga poses — and how to prevent injuries.
- The nervous system, breath and the mind-body connection.
- Biomechanics: safe movement, contraindications and adaptations for different bodies.
Yoga Humanities — 30 Hours
- The history of yoga and the meaning of the word itself — from the Vedas to modern practice.
- Yoga philosophy through key texts such as the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.
- Yogic lifestyle (dinacharya), ethics for teachers, and how philosophy applies to modern life.
Professional Essentials — 50 Hours
- Teaching methodology: sequencing, pacing, cueing and class management for different levels.
- Practice teaching with personal feedback — groups and one-to-one.
- The business of teaching yoga, continuing education and your path to RYT-200 registration.
- Final assessment: written exercises, practical asana test and a teaching demonstration.
Pure Soul Emphasis — Remaining Hours
- Ayurveda workshop: the three doshas — Vata, Pitta, Kapha — and nutrition for energy and clarity.
