Panchakarma Detox Therapies

Panchakarma — literally “five actions” — is Ayurveda's most complete system of purification: a doctor-supervised programme that prepares the body, releases accumulated toxins, and then carefully rebuilds strength from within.
Unlike a massage package or a spa week, true Panchakarma is medicine. It begins with a thorough consultation, follows a protocol prescribed for your individual constitution, and unfolds in stages over days or weeks — which is why it cannot honestly be sold off a menu, and why we never do.
At Pure Soul Yoga School in Rishikesh, your Panchakarma is guided personally by Dr. Bhupinder Singh Arora (M.D. Ayurveda), who brings 16 years of dedicated Panchakarma practice. After your consultation — held online before you travel whenever the doctor is not on-site — he prescribes your exact protocol, its duration and your dosha-specific diet.
Around the treatments, your days are held gently: restorative yoga adapted to your treatment stage, meditation, unhurried rest and fresh sattvic meals cooked for your constitution — all in the quiet of the yoga capital of the world, beside the Ganga.
The weeks after Panchakarma matter as much as the programme itself:
“Panchakarma does not add anything to you — it removes what was never meant to stay.”
Panchakarma is designed to draw accumulated toxins (ama) out of the tissues and eliminate them — a level of cleansing that surface treatments and juice fasts cannot reach, performed gradually and safely under medical supervision.
Ayurveda regards digestion (agni) as the root of health. The staged diet, cleansing actions and rebuilding phase together give the digestive fire a genuine restart — many guests report lighter digestion for months afterwards.
The enforced slowness — early nights, deep rest, oil therapies, meditation — calms the nervous system profoundly. Guests often describe the second week as the deepest rest of their adult lives.
As the body lightens, the mind follows. Traditional texts and modern guests agree on this one: clarity, steadier moods and better sleep are among the most commonly reported outcomes.
You leave with your dosha understood and a written plan — food, routine, self-care — from a doctor who has spent 16 years practising exactly this. The retreat ends; the knowledge doesn't.
Rest is half the medicine. Every guest stays in a comfortable private room — your own quiet space through the deeper days of the cleanse. Meals are central to Panchakarma: everything is cooked fresh according to your dosha and your current treatment stage, from light kitchari on cleansing days to nourishing rebuilding meals afterwards. Filtered drinking water is available around the clock, and our cooks keep everything gentle for sensitive stomachs.

Honest Panchakarma cannot be priced before the doctor has seen you — your protocol, its treatments and its duration are prescribed at consultation, and your quote covers exactly that. Send us your preferred dates and health goals through the enquiry form; we'll arrange your consultation (online before you travel if the doctor is off-site) and you'll receive your personalised quote within 24 hours of it.

Every health-focused program at Pure Soul Yoga School is guided by Dr. Bhupinder Singh Arora, who earned his M.D. in Ayurveda from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, and has been practising Ayurvedic panchakarma for 16 years.
He has served as an honorary professor and adviser to well-known institutions and is the former Head of the Panchakarma Department at SLN Ayurvedic College, Amritsar. Rooted in traditional Ayurvedic lineages, he is known for his pulse diagnosis (nadi pariksha), leech therapy and panchakarma treatments, which have benefited patients across India and abroad.
How your consultation works

Panchakarma — Sanskrit for 'five actions' — is Ayurveda's deepest system of purification: a doctor-supervised, staged programme that first prepares the body with oil and steam therapies, then releases accumulated toxins through classical cleansing actions such as Virechana and Basti, and finally rebuilds strength with a graded diet and rejuvenating herbs. It is a medical process, not a spa package.
It depends on what the doctor prescribes for your constitution and goals. A focused programme can be done in 7 days; a complete classical Panchakarma usually needs 14 to 21 days or more, because the preparation and rebuilding stages cannot be rushed. Dr. Arora will tell you honestly what your body needs at consultation.
At Pure Soul, Panchakarma is quoted personally after your consultation — because your protocol (which treatments, how many days) is prescribed for your body, your price covers exactly that and nothing padded. Send us your dates and goals, and you'll receive your personalised quote within 24 hours of your consultation. Your stay includes a private room, dosha-specific meals, daily gentle yoga and the doctor's supervision.
Under proper medical supervision, yes — that is exactly why we run it consultation-first. Dr. Arora (M.D. Ayurveda, 16 years of Panchakarma practice) assesses your health before prescribing anything, adapts the protocol to your condition, and monitors you throughout. If Panchakarma isn't right for you at this time, he will say so honestly.
Panchakarma is generally not given during pregnancy or menstruation, in acute illness or fever, shortly after surgery, or in cases of severe weakness — and some individual treatments have their own contraindications. This is precisely why everything begins with a doctor's consultation; mention any condition or medication when you book.
A meaningful, doctor-designed 7-day programme is possible — usually focused preparation plus one cleansing action and careful aftercare guidance for home. What we won't do is compress a full classical Panchakarma into a week and call it complete. If your goals need longer, the doctor will tell you before you commit.
Dr. Arora performs a dosha assessment — pulse reading, lifestyle analysis and detailed questions about your health history and medications — then prescribes your protocol: which treatments, in what sequence, for how many days, and the diet that goes with them. When the doctor is not on-site, the consultation happens online before you travel, so your programme is ready when you arrive.
Eat simply for a few days before you come (less fried, processed and heavy food), reduce alcohol and caffeine, and rest well — arriving exhausted makes the first days harder. Bring a list of any medications and recent test reports if you have them; the doctor will want to see them.
Gently, yes — daily soft yoga, pranayama and meditation adapted to your treatment stage. On deeper cleansing days the doctor may prescribe complete rest instead; during Panchakarma, rest is not laziness, it is the treatment.
